The development:
Tropea Sunset is a small but unique development with wonderful views over the lovely Mediterranean countryside and the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is set in attractive landscaped gardens and has been designed in a traditional way with Italian tiled roofs and low rise buildings. Each apartment takes full advantage of the sunny climate: they consist of spacious, light, airy sitting room and fitted kitchen, two bedrooms and a luxury bathroom. In addition, they have ample storage space. The first floor apartments enjoy a terrace and a balcony while the ground floor flats have their private patios leading to the landscaped grounds. A safe parking is also available for property owners. Tropea Sunset development is without a doubt the ideal holiday residence for couples and families.

The location:
Tropea Sunset is located in the charming village of Ciaramiti. Greeks, founders of the village, gave it the name “keramis”, which means “tile” in Greek; indeed, it was there that bricks and tiles were manufactured for the houses of the area. Ciaramiti is just 5 minutes away from the beautiful white beach of Formicoli and the buzzing town of Tropea. Known as the St Tropez of southern Italy, Tropea is the most fashionable centre of Calabria. Fun lovers will enjoy the myriad of friendly bars and restaurants while tourists will be delighted by the historical aspect of the city: Tropea is famous for its narrow streets, its lovely cliff edge houses, the 12th century cathedral and beautiful period buildings. Ciaramiti is also close to Ricardi and Capo Vaticano. There are fascinating historical sites to visit in Ricardi and idyllic spots for sea bathing such as the three bays of Grotticelli. As for Cap Vaticano, it is set on a beautiful rocky spur and offers fragrant forests, wonderful creeks, caves and secret beaches.

Activities:
A wide range of activities are available in the region of Tropea, in particular water sports such as canoeing, swimming, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, jet skiing, wind surfing, deep sea diving… Cycling, golf, horse riding or tennis are also much appreciated in the area. Boat cruises to the Aeolian Islands or Stromboli can now be booked thanks to the attractive new marina in Tropea.

Food and Local specialities:
Many villages around Tropea produce a particular quality of red onion. In Italy these onions are so famous that cipolla di Tropea (“Tropea onion” or “Tropea’s onion”) has become an Italian synonym for all red onions. One of the gelaterias in town, Tonino in the Corso, even makes a red onion ice cream! There is also a spicy and creamy pork salami locally produced, the Nduja.
Not to say that most of the cuisine of Calabria is heavily influenced by the Mediterranean cuisine. The Southern warm climate all year round is perfect for growing fruit, vegetables and grapes, for delicious wines, as well as olive groves. The sea provides a source of wonderful fresh fish too. The distinctive local cuisine is not only delicious but healthy in the bargain.
