The development is set just above the beautiful quaint San Sostene, one of the smallest towns of the Catanzaro province, and moments away from Soverato. This town, the third largest of Calabria, hosts one of the most popular markets of the region where you can find a plethora of bargains. There is also a food market every Friday and a daily fish market. The numerous designer boutiques and jewellers in the pedestrian centre which overlooks the lovely Gulf of Squillace, will delight shoppers. Soverato is packed with bars, restaurants and clubs and, in the summer, there is a nightly funfair on its beautiful white beach. It is also close to Sant’Andrea Apostolo dello Ionio, a typical historic Italian town with typical medieval alleys and vestiges from the past including Byzantine frescoes and an impressive bastion of the ancient castle.

San Sostene Resort is situated 1,700 m away from the white sandy beaches where water activities are very much appreciated: swimming, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, jet skiing, wind surfing, deep sea diving… Other nearby activities are paragliding, skiing, cycling, horse riding or golf: the development is within close proximity of the Santa Caterina Golf Course!

Food and local specialities:
The cuisine of Soverato area reflects the Calabrian gastronomy with its typical dishes, simple but full of strong and genuine tastes, which comes from its country and sea long tradition. The Calabrian ground gives special olives, citruses, vegetables and wine, which characterize in an unmistakable way the tastes of the typical dishes. In particular, at Soverato, you will find fish or meat dishes, vegetables prepared in various ways, local cheeses, salami and cold pork meat. You must try the ‘scilatelle’ (hand-made pasta similar to big spaghetti) with tomato and basil, the ‘bujhularo’ (sliced lard) with sweet red pepper, the delicious courgette fritters and the courgette flowers. Among the fish main courses, the most famous are ‘stoccafisso con le patate’ (stockfish with potatoes) and the ‘alga ciciaredda’, a kind of fried blue fish.

By air: Lamezia Terme is the closest airport (50mn away from Soverato) and the fastest way to get to the development . Budget airlines serve the airport which is two hours fly time from most of the major European cities.  Airberlin flies directly to Lamezia Terme from London Stansted every Wednesday from May to October and also flies to Naples three times a week in the same period. There, you can rent a car, take a bus or a train for Soverato.

By car: In order to reach San Sostene, once arrived to Rome with the A1 motorway, take the A3 Salerno – Reggio Calabria as far as Lamezia Terme-Catanzaro exit. From here, take the S.S. 848 towards Soverato, then the E-90 up to the exit for the town.

By train: Nearby Stations at Badolato and Sant’ Andrea Apostolo dello Jonio have a good train connection to/from all major Italian towns and cities. Soverato station is also on the Ionic railway.
